These portraits of Caitlin were taken in Central Park and Fort Tryon Park in 2016, soon after our first meeting on Roosevelt Island. Since then we’ve grown to become close friends and collaborators, and were roommates in Harlem for a while. Caitlin is a talented performance artist and a respected healer focusing on body and mind through meditative practices and movement.
In 2016 I did a performance art residency near Kingston, NY. A friend of mine from Penn State, Katie Hovencamp, was coincidentally in the area at another residency. So…happily, she came to visit! Katie is a crazy talented performance artist and sculptor (she’s wearing one of her creations in the castle photo, taken outside Arts Letters and Numbers. We did some crazy photos in the woods around Catskill and Hurley. The abandoned diner was a lucky find on the trip, so of course we explored it!

My friend Monica and I did this enigmatic series one bright spring day in Prospect Park. Monica’s bright energy clearly shines through the bizarre distortion of the lace and sheer material. We had a lot of fun doing this and laughed our asses off the whole time. I think this was the first formal shoot I did after coming to NYC. I did some adventures at Coney Island shortly after moving to the city, but this was definitely one of the first ones I organised.
