This collection of images was shot at the end of March 2020, just as NYC lockdown started cracking down in earnest. I made a trek from Astoria to Chinatown for a photo shoot, all the while convinced Covid would find and kill me and worrying I’d end up a martyr with nothing to show for myself but an iCloud full of empty streets. Witnessing an empty Canal Street in the middle of the day was mind-blowing. A silent Chinatown, except for a few delivery drivers quietly buzzing up and down the abandoned streets on bicycles and mopeds. So quiet you could hear your voice echo. Flocks of pigeons in the streets. Zero cars on the RFK Bridge. The silence haunts me still.
