Documentary: Central Pennsylvania

These photographs were taken around the area where I grew up in central Pennsylvania. The microscopic town of Woodward, frozen in time, still has annual hog butchering events in people’s backyards, where pigs are slaughtered and processed by hand using antique tools and kettles. Small festivals are still held every summer, it’s still very much an agrarian society with strong Germanic roots. It’s a world away from where I live now, but I’ve learned so much from this creepy, almost Lynchian place…for better or worse.
